AI industry scale up tohundreds of billions, computer vision market is rapidly emerging

From the perspective of development, China's artificial intelligence industry has a history of development for decades and is now in a period of vigorous development. On May 15, Liu Wei, president of CSG Keda Institute of Intelligent Science, said at the inaugural meeting of the artificial intelligence industry alliance of the G60 Kechuang Corridor in the Yangtze River Delta that the scale of artificial intelligence market is expected to reach 100 billion in 2020. Among them, the computer vision market has a large room for development.


Looking at the world, the computer vision industry has entered a period of steady growth. Although China started late, it has developed rapidly. In 2015, the computer vision industry market scale has been in the forefront of the world, becoming an important market for computer vision. At the same time, some analysts pointed out that AI, as one of the core segments of the new generation of information technology, has been applied in many fields such as the base layer, technology layer and application layer. According to data from Tsinghua University, on the technical level, computer vision applications account for 34.9% of the total artificial intelligence applications, and have become an important support for the development of various industries.


At present, China's computer vision market structure has taken initial shape. In terms of core barriers in the industry, technology and product capabilities are in the short to medium term, and ecological construction capabilities in the long run. At present, the concentration of computer vision market in China is getting higher. According to IDC statistics, in 2017, Shangtang, Defiance, Yitu, and Cloud accounted for 69.4% of the computer vision application market from the four companies.


In fact, in addition to the above-mentioned companies, Tencent, Baidu, Ali, Jinshan and other giants are also stepping up their layout. In the recently released list of science and technology board acceptance companies, there are also companies in the field of computer vision. At the same time, overseas technology giants have frequently acquired technical teams to launch an open source computer vision development platform, and hope to gain more opportunities in the fierce international market competition.


From the application scenario, the domestic industrial applications of computer vision include security, finance, internet, autonomous driving, augmented reality, and unmanned retail. According to IDC's market tracking, the three largest industries in China's computer vision technology output in 2018 are government, finance and the Internet. The two largest scenarios are the safe city in the government industry and the face recognition identity in the financial industry. As technology continues to mature, the scope of application of computer vision will be further expanded.


For example, in the field of medical image analysis, computer vision has a huge space for development. If image recognition techniques in deep learning and computer vision are used for medical image analysis, computer vision technology can be applied to medical image-assisted diagnosis. Modern medicine is increasingly dependent on medical imaging information. When visiting a hospital, patients are often required to take a variety of medical images such as CT and nuclear magnetic, image recognition and natural language processing in computer vision, to some extent for doctors. Comprehensive analysis and judgment of medical imaging provides strong technical support.


At the moment, the types of data processed by artificial intelligence technologies include text, voice, images, and video. According to Cisco research, by 2022, the proportion of global online video traffic to total traffic will increase from 75% in 2017 to 82%, and online data will be increasingly dominated by video data. Computer vision, which mainly uses images and video as the main processing object, has more rich application scenarios and commercialization value than other artificial intelligence technologies that use text or speech as the main processing object.


In the future, with the advancement of deep learning, the expansion of computer storage, and the proliferation of visual data sets, computer vision technology will develop rapidly. From surveillance cameras to license plate recognition, from face recognition to immigration management, computer vision will play an important role. With the gradual popularization of artificial intelligence technology, computer vision will usher in new development opportunities and achieve many results.
