Industrial automation develops quickly, especially machine vision

The 2016 Wuhan International Industrial Automation and Robotics Exhibition will be held on September 23rd at the Wuhan International Expo Center. The data shows that from 2013 to 2015, the sales volume of industrial robots in China was 36,560 units, 57,096 units and 66,000 units respectively, and the global proportion reached 20.52%, 24.9% and 26.66% respectively. Among them, China's self-owned brand industrial robot sales were 9,957 units, 17,000 units and 22,257 units respectively, and the national sales accounted for 26%, 30% and 34% respectively. The self-owned brand industrial robot market has gradually opened. With the rapid growth of the industrial robot market and the continuous improvement of production precision, machine vision technology has been successfully applied to industrial robots and has become a core key technology.


Machine vision is a technology that uses optical systems, industrial digital cameras, and image processing tools to simulate human vision and thinking. The automation equipment can be divided into three categories: sensor detection, monitoring system and actuator. Machine vision belongs to the automation application equipment in the field of sensor detection. The machine vision system has extremely high resolution and processing speed, meets or exceeds the visual ability of the human eye in many indicators, and can process content that cannot be perceived by the human body through infrared, ultrasonic, microwave-specific sensor imaging. In addition, the machine vision system can work without interruption, and has the advantages of objective and quantifiable imaging indicators.


From the perspective of product application, machine vision is not only used as a single product in the field of quality inspection, but also widely installed in industrial automation products such as industrial robots and CNC machine tools. It belongs to the upstream core of automation engineering and is in the process of industrial automation. The application is more extensive. The data shows that the global machine vision market last year was about $4.2 billion, up 10.5% year-on-year. Among them, the United States is the world's largest machine vision market, accounting for 50% of the market. China's machine vision industry started late, but it has developed rapidly in recent years. Last year, the market scale reached 350 million US dollars, with a growth rate of 22.2%. The agency expects that in the next few years, China's machine vision industry will maintain a growth rate of 20%, far higher than the global average of 8.4%.


Last year, China's machine vision system was mainly used in the field of electronic manufacturing, accounting for about 46%. In addition, applications in the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors accounted for 10.9% and 9.7%, respectively. China's machine vision technology is becoming more and more mature, and the application field will be gradually broadened in the future. The demand for food, packaging, printing, logistics, instrumentation and other industries is expected to increase significantly.


With the diversification of industrial automation and machine vision applications, recognition rates, costs and speeds will become the core competitiveness of machine vision systems. In practical industrial applications, complex and diverse application scenarios will place more demands on machine vision recognition rates, processing speeds, and computer hardware. At the same time, achieving a good recognition rate and processing speed through a lower hardware configuration can bring more cost advantages to equipment suppliers.
