Today, China is becoming one of the most active areas in the world in the development of machine vision, covering industries such as industry, agriculture, medicine, military, aerospace, meteorology, astronomy, public security, traffic, safety, scientific research and other sectors of the national economy. The important reason is that China has become the processing center of the global manufacturing industry. The high requirement parts processing and its corresponding advanced production line have made many advanced machine vision systems and application experience of international advanced level into China.
After long-term dormancy, the Chinese machine vision market ushered in explosive growth in 2010. Data show that in that year, the scale of China's machine vision market reached 830 million yuan, an increase of 48.2 percent over the same period last year. Among them, the growth rate of smart cameras, software, light sources and boards reached 50 percent. Industrial cameras and lenses also maintained growth of more than 40%, the highest level since 2007.
In 2011, China's machine vision market entered a post-growth adjustment period. China's machine vision market was 1.08 billion yuan in 2011, an increase of 30.1 percentage points from a year earlier, and a drop of 18.1 percentage points from 2010. Among them, smart cameras, industrial cameras, software and boards have maintained a growth rate of no less than 30 percent, while light sources have also reached a growth rate of 28.6 percent, which is far higher than the growth rate of the overall automation market in China. The electronics industry continues to be the main driver of high demand. The market for machine vision products, electronics, grew by 35.1RMB to 500 million yuan in 2011. The share of the city reached 46.3. Electronic manufacturing, automobiles, pharmaceuticals and packaging machinery account for nearly 70% of the market for machine vision.
