What's the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel material?

- Jan 03, 2020-

304 and 316 stainless steel materials are the most common in our daily life. We use stainless steel material every day. Many people may not know which type of stainless steel tools they use at home. Which one is better? What about our industrial computers (industrial panel PC and industrial monitor)?

I- 304 stainless steel:
First of all, the living tools commonly used in our family, as well as drinking glasses and tableware for daily drinking, are all made of 304 stainless steel, which is food equipment, which is widely used.
Everyday food design is more exposed to acid and alkali. The biggest advantage of 304 stainless steel is acid and alkali resistance, and the density is high, and there is no bubble in polishing.

II- 316 stainless steel:

316 stainless steel is a bit luxurious to use in food equipment, but its function is better than 304. Generally, it is mainly used in medical, food, machinery, petroleum, etc.
And 316 stainless steel is commonly used on some mechanical equipment parts, or some barrels, weapons, etc. are more commonly used.

The composition of 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel is also different. In 316 stainless steel, the cr component is reduced and the ni component is improved, so that its anti-corrosion ability is enhanced. It can be used in seawater or chemical environment. 316 stainless steel is also higher in cost. Generally, the kitchen sink will be made of 316 stainless steel during home improvement, so the corrosion resistance is stronger.
Therefore, we can conclude that it is possible to use both 304 stainless steel and 316 stainless steel into industrial computer systems. However, for more demanding food or medical industries, 316 material may be given priority and its use will be more perfect.
